Safe Materials, Clean Pleasures:
ANDREW SAUNDERSThe BondiVibes Guide to Hygiene & Quality
Because what touches your body should meet the same standards as what you’d trust on your skin. Here’s how to choose safe materials, care for them properly, and understand the hygiene promise behind every BondiVibes machine and accessory.
Why Material Safety Matters
Pleasure is personal, but safety is universal. The material your toy or attachment is made from determines not only how it feels, but how it reacts with your skin, how easy it is to clean, and how long it will last. At BondiVibes, we treat material science like skincare—because your body deserves purity, durability, and confidence, not mystery plastics or hidden residues.
The sex-tech world has evolved far beyond novelty plastics. Modern high-end toys use biocompatible silicones, medical-grade metals, and non-porous surfaces that resist bacteria. Still, the market is flooded with low-grade imports made from porous or chemically softened materials. Understanding the difference is the foundation of safe pleasure.
The BondiVibes Material Safety Score
Below is a simplified rating system comparing common materials used in pleasure products. Each score (out of 10) reflects safety, durability, and ease of cleaning.
| Material | Safety Score / 10 | Highlights |
|---|---|---|
| Medical-grade Silicone | 10 | Non-porous, hypoallergenic, body-safe, easy to sterilise. |
| ABS Hard Plastic | 9 | Rigid, smooth, non-porous, compatible with most lubes. |
| Stainless Steel | 10 | Inert, fully sanitisable, luxurious weight and feel. |
| Borosilicate Glass | 9 | Non-porous, temperature-play friendly, extremely hygienic. |
| Aluminium Alloy | 8 | Lightweight, non-porous, can be anodised for smoothness. |
| TPE / TPR | 5 | Soft and lifelike but porous; must be cleaned carefully. |
| PVC (Vinyl) | 4 | Can contain phthalates unless medical-grade; prone to wear. |
| Cyber-skin / Jelly | 3 | Very porous, traps bacteria, short lifespan. |
| Wood (sealed) | 7 | Natural and body-safe when properly sealed; hand-wash only. |
| Ceramic | 8 | Glazed versions are non-porous and elegant, but fragile. |
Material Breakdown: Feel, Function & Care
Silicone — The Gold Standard
Medical-grade silicone is smooth, flexible, and completely non-porous. It warms to body temperature and cleans effortlessly. Wash with mild soap and warm water, then air-dry. For deep cleaning, boil for 3 minutes or use a toy sterilising spray. Avoid silicone-based lubricants, which can degrade the surface—stick to high-quality water-based lubes.
ABS Plastic
Hard and sleek, ABS plastic is found in control panels and bullet-style toys. It’s body-safe, non-porous, and resistant to cracks. Clean with warm water and mild soap. Compatible with all lube types. Do not boil or use abrasive cleaners.
Stainless Steel
Favoured for temperature play and precision design, stainless steel is fully sterilisable and built to last decades. Use warm water, mild detergent, or even place in a dishwasher (no detergent residue). Dry thoroughly to avoid water spots. Works with any lubricant type.
Glass
Borosilicate glass offers a rigid, ultra-smooth surface and luxurious weight. It can be warmed or cooled for sensation play. Wash thoroughly before and after each use. Inspect for chips—if you see one, retire it immediately. Compatible with all lubricants.
Aluminium
Non-porous and lightweight, aluminium toys can be anodised for a silky finish. Clean like stainless steel; avoid harsh acids or bleach. Ideal for those who like firm pressure with less heft.
TPE / TPR (Thermoplastic Elastomer / Rubber)
Soft, flexible, and skin-like—but porous. These materials absorb moisture and can harbour bacteria if not dried completely. Clean gently with toy cleaner or antibacterial soap, pat dry, and dust with cornstarch to maintain texture. Never share between partners unless protected by a condom.
PVC (Vinyl)
Common in lower-priced products, PVC can be body-safe if phthalate-free, but many formulations aren’t. It’s porous and may develop a sticky surface over time. Wipe gently with mild soap; discontinue use if discolouration or odour appears.
Cyber-skin / Jelly Compounds
Extremely soft and realistic but notorious for porosity and chemical smell. Use only with condoms, clean with gentle toy wash, and store separately. These degrade quickly; BondiVibes does not use or endorse jelly materials in any product line.
Wood (Sealed)
When properly sealed with non-toxic varnish, wood toys are smooth and natural. Wipe with damp cloth and mild soap—never soak. Dry completely. Re-oil or wax the surface occasionally to preserve finish.
Ceramic
Glazed ceramic is body-safe and elegant. Clean with warm soapy water; avoid dropping or sudden temperature changes. Check regularly for cracks before use.
BondiVibes Hygiene & Quality Control Standards
Every BondiVibes product is built under a strict, multi-step quality system that mirrors cosmetic-grade safety processes. We control not just design but sourcing, assembly, and final inspection to guarantee your gear arrives immaculate.
- Material Verification: Each batch of silicone, metal, or plastic is certified body-safe and free from phthalates, BPA, and latex.
 - Surface Precision: Machine components are polished to reduce micro-pores where residue could cling.
 - Pre-Assembly Cleaning: All contact parts are washed in medical-grade isopropyl and air-dried before assembly.
 - Post-Assembly QC: Every unit is visually inspected, mechanically tested, and wiped with hypoallergenic cleanser prior to packaging.
 - Discreet, Sterile Packaging: Each product is sealed in tamper-evident film with moisture control and dust protection before boxing.

Our commitment doesn’t end at the factory. Machines are spot-checked at BondiVibes HQ before dispatch to ensure flawless performance and presentation. We operate under an internal cleanliness protocol comparable to light medical-device standards—because intimacy deserves engineering precision.
Caring for Your Toys: Do’s & Don’ts
- Do clean before and after every use with mild soap or dedicated toy cleaner.
 - Do allow toys to air-dry fully before storage; moisture invites bacteria.
 - Do store in individual pouches to prevent chemical reactions between materials.
 - Do check cables, adapters, and attachment points regularly for residue or wear.
 - Do use high-quality water-based lube unless the material clearly supports silicone or oil-based alternatives.
 - Don’t share porous toys without protection.
 - Don’t submerge battery or electronic components.
 - Don’t use alcohol, bleach, or abrasive scrubbers unless specified safe for the material.
 - Don’t store toys in direct sunlight or extreme heat.

Small rituals like proper washing, drying, and storage dramatically extend the lifespan of your machine or attachment. Treat them like premium skincare tools—clean, dry, and protected.
